For example, in conjunction with the fine people at Mikimoto earlier this year, we ran a series of blog articles (such as the one shown below) that served as a spotlight for specific products within Mikimoto’s ‘Love Collection’ in the run-up to Saint Valentine’s Day.

Having identified a series of poems by rummaging through The Pixel’s well kept library, we then used their references to pearls and matters of the heart as a jumping off point for each blog post. The carefully selected poems provided the gumption to highlight the jewellery, while the accompanying copy simply introduced each item in the collection while drawing parallels to the poetry in question. Twas a simple touch, but one that we hope brought a thimble of joy to Mikimoto’s patrons during their Valentine’s Day celebrations.

And so, through the dark and cold winter nights, The Pixel’s windmill crushed the grains of a new Sportfish website, complete with an intriguing thingamajig called the World Wide Guide to sate the appetites of vagabondish fisherman in lands far beyond our unassuming little village. Here’s this helpful trinket now in all its glory – see how it displays a world map containing fishing locations of merit for customers to peruse.

Patrons may scroll across the map to their hearts’ delight, zooming in and out of countries and continents as if they had a Pixel airship of their own to sail across the zephyrs. It’s all powered by something called Google Maps, which I understand is some kind of all-encompassing Pazuzu in the sky.

It’s witchcraft, I tell you, as the map zooms into the tiniest of details, regaling tales from the Sportfish archive of numerous fishing locations across the globe revered for their beauty and good fishin’.

A Lidl Bit of Magic features a wagon load of recipes from them’z there chefs off the telly, Nick Nairn and Lesley Waters, including videos and interactive brochures, and all sorts of bits and bobs that’ll float your Yuletide boat. I’z be damned if it don’t!

We had the pleasure of the company and services of the very fine folk at Generator Films to conjure the magic of moving pictures and imagery. And they sure know how to shoot a bit of brownie – check out this little motion pictorial treat, it’s good enough to spread on your crumpet:

We didn’t stop there my app prodding chums. Our downloadable Lidl Christmas Mobile Phone App was developed totally in-house, without any help from our mothers. It includes clever little tools to help with Christmas cooking, like recipes, videos, cooking calculators, a shopping list feature, and a tiny, tiny bottle of gin to help the day pass…I jest thee. He he.

A shopping list on a phone you say? Yes. I suppose I do. The mobile app lets users select individual recipe items and add them to the shopping list, and then mark them off as they walk round store using the clever touch screen facility. Magic! Not really, a simple matter of a little dwarf dust is all.

You can also view Lesley Waters’ recipe videos right there on your little ol’phone, so you don’t even need to turn on your noisy ol’computer. And, the cooking calculators give you the times, quantities and conversions needed to make sure everything’s cooked just right and proper, so you hardly need bother.

The new website offers a simple and quick to access navigation, directing customers to such categories as London Scenes, Photography, Animals and Birds, Christmas Themed, Light-hearted, New Year and more. Once confirmed this PDF is verified and submitted for print automatically by the system.
