Magento – A Platform for Growth in 2010

Over the course of the last year there’s been a dramatic increase in the number of ecommerce websites converting to ecommerce applications like Magento.

Being the curious sorts we are, we set about analysing why this was happening. We know, obviously, all the reasons why a business would choose Magento as its ecommerce management application – read our What is Magento? page to find out for yourself.

But we were most interested in finding out if there was one reason in particular that so many websites were now converting to Magento at such a fast pace. Borderlands™ Mailout for 2K Games

The mailout for the game Borderlands™ by 2K Games was a successful email marketing campaign that made effective use of detailed gaming imagery. Trust Earning Text featured in the header was used to promote user confidence by providing specific sender details and an unsubscribe link. Alternative viewing methods such as ‘Read It Online’ and ‘Send To A Friend’ were also included to maximise potential clickthroughs. A textual game overview provided additional information and a large clickable graphical area served as an effective purchasing call-to-action. 2K Games has some of the most talented development studios in the world today and has released games such as the 2007 Game of the Year – BioShock™.

Play.com Sci Fi Landing

Our Sci-fi eCatalogue for Play.com is a digital Flash magazine that incorporates live price and stock updates with product imagery/descriptions, and magazine style editorials. The resulting catalogue provides an easily digestible mix of both entertainment and call-to-action purchasing. This type of interactive media aids in both attracting a returning customer base and in boosting sales. Play.com sells a variety of electronic products as well as clothes and accessories, and is the second biggest online retailer in the UK.

Our Clothing eCatalogue for Play.com is a digital Flash magazine that incorporates live price and stock updates with product photography and descriptions. The result is a fully automated display feature to engage buyers and boost sales. Videos were also nested within the pages to give further scope of information. Play.com sells a variety of electronic products as well as clothes and accessories, and is the second biggest online retailer in the UK.

Wa hay! Our new site is now live and ready to bring effective, profitable and affordable ecommerce trading to just about anyone.

At The Pixel we love Magento. Well, we love Magento as much as it’s possible to love an open source internet trading application. Which is quite a bit – because we appreciate what a fantastic platform Magento is and what it can do for our customers.

Standardisation combined with customisation is the name of the game, and that’s exactly what The Pixel are here to do. Varien Release Latest Magento Build

Varien have uploaded the latest release of Magento version 1.4.0.0-alpha1.

Notice the introduction of the term ‘Alpha’? Thankfully the team at Varien have realised that Magento required some form of labelling to define the Stability Status of each release. If you’ve spent any time around the Magento forums you’ll quickly notice how each new release brings along its own headaches for store owners. BioShock™ Mailout for 2K Games

The mailout for the game BioShock™ by 2K Games was a successful email marketing campaign that made effective use of dramatic gaming imagery. A large clickable graphical area and smaller screen shots provided direct links to the game’s official website. Textual descriptions provided more detailed information. Direct call-to-action links to retailing websites Play.com and Amazon.co.uk for the official strategy guide were also included. 2K Games has some of the most talented development studios in the world today and BioShock™ was voted 2007 Game of the Year.
